Mark Description:
The mark consists of a circular seal with an outer shaded scalloped edge. To the inside edge of the scalloped edge is an inner circular ring which has a line just inside its outer edge. The words "UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME", in stylized capital letters with a dot separating "UNIVERSITY" and "DAME", are around the inner circular ring. The center of the inner ring is a shaded circle with decorative filigree. Superimposed upon the shaded center circle is a shield within which is a cross. Superimposed on the cross is an open book containing the Latin phrase "VITA DULCEDO SPES" written across both pages of the book in highly stylized letters. The shield also contains a six point star in the upper left corner. At the bottom of the shield are decorative wavy lines.
