The mark consists of a seal with an inner and outer circle. In the top half of the outer circle are the words "Department of Public Safety" in a stylized font. In the lower half of the outer circle is a banner with the ends curling inward. In the banner are the words "Courtesy", "Service", and "Protection" in a stylized font and with each word separated by a small square box. On the left side of the banner is an oak branch with acorns while on the right side there is an olive branch. In the inner circle, there is a five point star. The black filling in the star represents shading, but the color black is not claimed as a feature of the mark. Around the star in a clockwise manner is the word "TEXAS" in a stylized font. Each letter of the word "TEXAS" is placed in between a star point beginning with the letter "T" being placed on the middle left side of the star.
