The mark consists of Latin characters forming the words "AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF EASTERN MEDICINE" in white set beneath non-Latin characters in white which, roughly translated, mean "philanthropy" according to the Chinese language. The Latin and non-Latin characters are separated by a small oval containing additional the Latin characters "WXI" which are written in red and set within a gold background. The Latin and non-Latin characters, together with the oval separator, are set within a red rectangular background. The red rectangular background is surrounded by a solid gold border which is slightly set apart from the red background and broken on either side so as not to overlap the two inward-facing dragons of the same shade and color placed on the eastern and western border thereof. Appearing below the southern solid gold border are eight non-Latin characters drawn in red which mean "American Institute of Eastern Medicine" according to the Chinese language.
